• XPS 1645 370 BT Driver Win 10. I had the same issue and what I found was that I needed to go into Add/Remove programs and Uninstall the Broadcom driver software from Windows 7. Once I did that I then used the Broadcom drivers for Windows 10 provided by Lenovo (which is the same as Broadcoms but the installer works).
• Dell Studio XPS 1645 Laptop Computer (Intel Core i7 720QM, 500GB HDD, 8GB) overview and full product specs on CNET.

Apple :: Low Graphic Score From Windows 7 Experience

running windows 7 via bootcamp on my MBP.
The graphic score from windows experience is very low (1.0). Other scores are normal.
Is there a driver that I can download to fix this graphic issue?

Primary Hard Disk(7200rpm 320 gb)--->5.8 (base)
I have a 490CTO with win7 home premium. I can't remember but I think that I had exactly the same score with vista, only nothing went over 5.9. The HDD score was the same. Did anybody else get a different base score after upgrading to 7?

Dell :: 1645 A Low 3DMark Score

I just received a 1645 with i7 (720), 4GB, and ATI 4670. Ran 3dmark05 and got about 11,000 or so. However, on my previous Vostro 1720 with a Core 2 Duo 9400 and a Nvidia 9600M GS card, I had over 10,000.
Shouldn't there have been a signifigant increase given the processor and video card upgrade? Did this on a new install of Win 7 64-bit on battery power (with powersaver off)

Dell :: Studio 1555 W/4570 GPUlow Desktop Graphics Score But High Gaming Graphics Score From WEI

Just purchased a 1555 with the radeon 4570 512mb GPU, Windows 7 64-bit, and performance is generally very good apart from one strange result. Windows experience index reports the following -
Processor - 5.7
Memory - 5.8
Graphics - 4.9
Gaming Graphics - 6.3
hard disk - 5.9
So the only low result is the desktop aero graphics performance at 4.9, which seems strange when the 3D businnes/gaming graphics score is 6.3. Other results i've seen posted on forums of the Windows 7 WEI scores are usually the same for desktop graphics and 3D graphics in Windows 7, which I would have expected as I understood that aero uses the GPU similarly to games. If anything, it looked like in most results the desktop graphics scores were slightly higher than the gaming graphics scores.
Does anyone know why I could be getting a lot lower desktop graphics score compared to gaming graphics?
I've checked the graphics drivers are up to date.
Can anybody else post their Windows 7 WEI scores from the 1555 with the 4570 512mb GPU?

I really want to order the New XPS 1645 with the i7 Core Processor. I was wondering are they pre-installing Windows 7 on any of them yet? I mean they just came out with the 1645 and anyone who orders like now will receive after the 22nd after Windows 7's general availability. I'm getting so sick and tired of waiting for them to start pre-installing Windows 7. NO ONE WANTS anything to do with Vista anymore and especially shipping as the default OS on pc's when its successor is less than 3 weeks away.

Dell :: My Experience With The Studio 1555

I've had my Dell studio 1555 for about 3 days now and I thought I might tell my experience I've had with the laptop and Dell as a company.
I was in the market for a new laptop for about 2 weeks nothing suitable had come up, looked at a few Sony's and HP's and nothing was in my price range, the ones I wanted were £1000+.
I never considered dell after hearing all the horror stories that people have had, however I decided to look at them with an open mind, you know the phrase never judge a book by its cover. Anyway I was considering getting a relatively small laptop that I could carry around university, but at the same time I needed something with a little power to handle all those graphic intensive applications and decided to go for the Studio 1555 (price at £800 was great value) , I chose the high end model and because it had a built in blu-ray drive I thought I might as well upgrade the screen to 1080p, I ordered and that was that.
Being the impatient person I am, after the 3rd or 4th business day it was shipped I was wondering why no one had called to arrange a delivery, so I called them and they said 'we can deliver it tomorrow morning.' Was really happy, and felt like an excited kid again.
Next day delivery man came and I signed for it with a big smile on my face. I opened up the box to find a shiny laptop inside, anyway I power it on to find some bloat ware that I didn't want or need, so I thought I would start uninstalling the programs, MacAfee trial uninstalled no problem, same goes for the office trial, however when I tried to uninstall the Data online backup software it kept on giving errors, so I said full install of vista it is then… After the vista reinstall I loaded up all the correct drivers and everything was good to go.
Playing with for a first few hours I thought it's a fast and snappy laptop and was really happy with the product. One thing I did notice every time I powered on the laptop on the vista welcome screen had horizontal lines running through it; I thought ill address that problem a bit later.
I put a Blu-ray disc of Spiderman 3 to test out the gorgeous screen and that it where all the problems began, first of all it didn't recognize the disc, I thought it might be a faulty disc so I pressed eject and low and behold nothing came out, I tried pressing eject on my computer and trying it from the bios all to no avail, I know there some people out there that are going to say it's a easy fix, but I am not going to take apart the laptop after a few hours of use.
That was the final straw basically have just got off the phone with them after being passed around their telephone lines like a piece of meat and being put on hold for the best part of half an hour, lol they first said they will call me back for a cancellation , i was having none of that and i said i needed sorting out today, to give dell credit they put me straight through. The delivery man will pick up the laptop on Monday and I am going to get a full refund within the next week or so…. Sorry I know this is a bit long but I had to get this of my chest, it's such a shame because I really did like the laptop. It's just a case of starting the whole process of buying a new laptop. Im thinking the studio xps but dell has really put me off..

this my first and probably last post. I just want to make you aware of my 3-4 months drama with this system and Dell 'Phillipindia'.
Here it goes.. around 4 months ago I decided to replace my 3 year old Inspiron. I look at what dell has to offer and was immediately attracted by the look and specifications of their studio XPS 16.
So I choose one, max it up almost to the top, slide $2k and waited In about 20 days the system arrived.. new, nice and shiny.. first impressions where more than good.. amazing screen colors, crazy performance, backlight keys, stylish design, burns bluray, amazing speakers.. only downside at time what that the laptops was like a magnet for fingerprints.. I remember that this little thing upset me in way at that time ...

Dell :: Studio 15 Experience Sound Crackling?

I've had my Studio 1537 for over a week now, and I have two questions.
1. Do you experience sound crackling? If so, what Wifi card do you have? I have the Intel Wifi 5100 card, which does occassionally cause some crackling.
2. The headphone jack has some line noise which is present all the time. Do you have this as well?

On Vista 32bit, my score were great for this machine. Now, on Seven 32bit, this is what I get.
CPU + RAM are VERY VERY low compared to what they used to be.
CPU : Core 2 Duo T8300 @ 2.40Ghz
Ratings:
PROCESSOR : 2.3
MEMORY : 2.9
Both were over 5.0 on Vista.

Dell :: CompleteCare System Exchange Experience, E1505 --> Studio 1558

If you're just gonna tl;dr, read the first two and the very last paragraph, and look at the specs in sig.
I searched pretty thoroughly through the forums when I started my completecare process, but found no info, so I think this might be helpful for other people wondering what the Complete Care System Exchange / Replacement Warranty process is like.
So I've had a number of parts placed on the e1505 I purchased in summer 2006, every single component and plastic at least once except for the screen itself, a wsxga+ 1680x1050 - they literally don't sell these in laptops anymore.
It took a catastrophic spill outside my house on April 21st (i think), I tried to save it, but couldn't - screen had shattered, back left corner had bent up about an inch (heatsink assembly included), right hinge torn apart, but it still booted! I could plug in an external monitor and get somewhat though the boot phase (never bothered to fully boot back into windows after that)
Called in on the 22nd, they next-dayed a box, and i shipped it out on the 23rd.
Depot got in on the 28th according to FedEx, but I hadn't heard from them so I called in on the 29th to find out that the depot had in fact found there was fatal damage, and they were waiting on approval for a System Exchange ...

just got windows 7 BETA 32x today and i have to say:
IT IS SIMPLY AWSOME!!!!
the new looks, the really snappy and smooth interface, the new features, and the fast as hell startup time.. WOW!
i was going to add some pictures but my connection is acting up again and i cant seem to upload anything so il just write some outstanding features:
1- the speed, its just so much faster than vista.. as simple as that, and it uses 630 megs of ram when i actually have 4gigs on this comp, while vista used 1.2 gigs, and as i said, the startup time is amazing ...

With my 1730 I can get a 5.1 score. The 5.1 is because of my ram which gets a 5.1, I am upgrading and adding another 2gb so this will not be a bottleneck anymore. My next highest score is a 5.2 for my hd. Is there anyway to get a higher score for my hd? I have a 7200rpm, would adding another hd, and putting them in raid somehow make a difference? I would at least like to figure out how i could make the hd faster, after that my next lowest score is not until 5.4, and if i had a score of 5.4

Why not share how 7 run on our precisions m6400 ?
I'm using win 7 build 7048 x64 working really well (way better and faster than XP sp3, however I never thought to use Vista.).
there was some issues with build 7000 and Adobe CS4 production apps (like premiere, encore, AE) now solved with 7048
The only nvidia driver I found working well are 179.44 for Win vista x64, installed without modding nv_disp.inf
the one provided from windows update for 7 (179.43 win7 i think) was not working (the screen turn white)...

Dell :: Studio XPS 1645 / Studio 1747 Wireless Configs

Does anyone have any idea why? Is this something affecting Dell globally or is it just UK/Europe in a mess?
I guess I could survive with just wireless G, but it seems ridiculous to be limited to that these days;
I guess I could also just order it and pick up an intel/dell Wireless N card for ~£25 and install it myself,
but again the question arises, why is it necessary? I assume some of you do have an 802.11n card of some description in your 1645/1747's have you seen any problems with it? ...

Dell :: Windows Experience Index Poor SSD Performance

I have been getting really poor hard drive performance since I've got my computer. It's getting a 5.9 on the windows experience index which I think is quite low for an 128GB SSD? Also, when copying and pasting large files it seems to stall for a few seconds during the process.
Has anyone else been having this problem or know a solution? What kind WEI ratings are people getting?
My machine is a SXPS 1645, Core i7 720Q, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD.

Apple :: Mac And Windows 7 Experience

I decided to upgrade my Vista/Fusion installation to Windows 7/Fusion today on my Alu unibody Mac.
The experience took a couple of hours, and I have to say it was a nervous operation.
A few heads up for those making the trek..
The setup program would not run until I uninstalled McAfee completely. Just disabling does not do the trick.
The mouse button stopped working several times at key junctures, when it is asking for input. Pressing the escape key after bringing up the VMware menu bar seems to alleviate the problem.
I could not re-install McAfee after the installation from the VMware menu bar. I'll have to see if I can do it later from the Fusion install disk.
After installation, Windows 7 seems to to function OK, but I did not do any in-depth testing as I'll want to have a working antivirus before I proceed further. If I can't get McAfee back on, maybe I'll install AVG's free AV.

Dell :: Studio XPS 1645 Or Studio 1747 ???

I'm university student and ntb is meant to be carried almost daily (16' is ok for me), it's mainly for multimedia oriented jobs, some programming in C and Mathematica, some photoshop or even premiere (occasionaly), A LOT of movie watching. I also want it to be futureproof and well-built.
Dell XPS 1645 meets most of my criteria, but there are few things I'm unsure about..
1) after reading a couple of reviews and many posts on this forum I'm really doubtful if RGB-LED is worth the extra money. I'm not doing colour sensitive job (however I do sometimes edit RAW images in PS), but i want things on the display to look natural, especially in FullHD movies.. (and I'm occasional gamer too)
Those who had honor to work with RGB-LED: would you pay for it in my position???
And just to make sure I haven't overlooked something: biggest DISadvantages of RGB-LED are supposed to be: inaccurate colors, bigger power consumption and some heat produced;
while advantages should be: 0,4' gain in size, wider gamut and (maybe) better brightness..
Do you know any more to be added?
2) I'm also considering usual Studio 17 with Core i7 720QM (almost the same config), because it should be cooler, it has numpad and place for additional hdd (I'd buy 80GB intel ssd 34nm for system while keeping stock 500GB for data, I think it's beatiful idea), but what I DISlike about studio 17 is: dimensions, weight, speakers and design (and maybe a bit worse overal built quality).
So which one do you think is better for me?
3) how does combined e-sata/usb work? Since I have a external e-sata drive I have to plug 2 cables at the moment: USB for power and e-sata.. With this 2-in-1 port do I need only 1 special cable? Or is it meant to be either/or thing??? From the placement of combined e-sata/usb on the opposite side of ntb than other USBs I'd say that 1 cable should be enough,

Dell :: Studio XPS 1645 Vs Studio XPS 1647

I am looking to get a Studio XPS 16 soon, but can't quite decide on which model to get and had a few questions..
1) What is the battery life of the 1647 (i5) compared to the 1645 (i7) assuming they have the same specs. I've read that i5's should last longer, but I really couldn't find anything comparing the two for these systems.
2) When configuring the 1645 and 1647 side-by-side with the same specs. The 1647 is about the same price as the 1645, if not more (depending on which processor selected). I thought the i5's were supposed to be less expensive than the i7's. Since they are about the same price, would it be better to go with the i7? Any reason to choose the i5 over i7?

Thought I'd put my experience with the Window 7 Beta on my Acer Aspire 6920G, for those considering it but not sure whether it works etc.
Installation: Installation went smooth, picked up alot of things out of the box, but for the things it doesn't, you can use the backup feature on the vista partition to create a disc with all the drivers etc. on
Drivers: Well there are some you'll have to get yourself, e.g. Graphics Card drivers, I've got the HD3650 flavour of machine and my drivers are found here: [url]
Another driver that didn't work, and the one from the drivers disc doesn't either is the SD Card reader, however you can get the drivers direct from JMicron here: http://www.jmicron.com/Driver.htm go into the ftp ( there's a link towards the end of the text) and get the driver for the JMB38X not 36X, this driver works a charm.
I can't speak for ExpressCard devices as I don't use them myself.
Sound works out of the box.
Even after installing the drivers for it the webcam refuses to work.
With the drivers from the driver disc created in Vista, bluetooth works......

Does anyone have any idea why? Is this something affecting Dell globally or is it just UK/Europe in a mess?
I guess I could survive with just wireless G, but it seems ridiculous to be limited to that these days;
I guess I could also just order it and pick up an intel/dell Wireless N card for ~£25 and install it myself,
but again the question arises, why is it necessary? I assume some of you do have an 802.11n card of some description in your 1645/1747's have you seen any problems with it? ...

Dell :: Windows Experience Index Poor SSD Performance

I have been getting really poor hard drive performance since I've got my computer. It's getting a 5.9 on the windows experience index which I think is quite low for an 128GB SSD? Also, when copying and pasting large files it seems to stall for a few seconds during the process.
Has anyone else been having this problem or know a solution? What kind WEI ratings are people getting?
My machine is a SXPS 1645, Core i7 720Q, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD.

Apple :: Mac And Windows 7 Experience

I decided to upgrade my Vista/Fusion installation to Windows 7/Fusion today on my Alu unibody Mac.
The experience took a couple of hours, and I have to say it was a nervous operation.
A few heads up for those making the trek..
The setup program would not run until I uninstalled McAfee completely. Just disabling does not do the trick.
The mouse button stopped working several times at key junctures, when it is asking for input. Pressing the escape key after bringing up the VMware menu bar seems to alleviate the problem.
I could not re-install McAfee after the installation from the VMware menu bar. I'll have to see if I can do it later from the Fusion install disk.
After installation, Windows 7 seems to to function OK, but I did not do any in-depth testing as I'll want to have a working antivirus before I proceed further. If I can't get McAfee back on, maybe I'll install AVG's free AV.

Dell :: Studio XPS 1645 Or Studio 1747 ???

I'm university student and ntb is meant to be carried almost daily (16' is ok for me), it's mainly for multimedia oriented jobs, some programming in C and Mathematica, some photoshop or even premiere (occasionaly), A LOT of movie watching. I also want it to be futureproof and well-built.
Dell XPS 1645 meets most of my criteria, but there are few things I'm unsure about..
1) after reading a couple of reviews and many posts on this forum I'm really doubtful if RGB-LED is worth the extra money. I'm not doing colour sensitive job (however I do sometimes edit RAW images in PS), but i want things on the display to look natural, especially in FullHD movies.. (and I'm occasional gamer too)
Those who had honor to work with RGB-LED: would you pay for it in my position???
And just to make sure I haven't overlooked something: biggest DISadvantages of RGB-LED are supposed to be: inaccurate colors, bigger power consumption and some heat produced;
while advantages should be: 0,4' gain in size, wider gamut and (maybe) better brightness..
Do you know any more to be added?
2) I'm also considering usual Studio 17 with Core i7 720QM (almost the same config), because it should be cooler, it has numpad and place for additional hdd (I'd buy 80GB intel ssd 34nm for system while keeping stock 500GB for data, I think it's beatiful idea), but what I DISlike about studio 17 is: dimensions, weight, speakers and design (and maybe a bit worse overal built quality).
So which one do you think is better for me?
3) how does combined e-sata/usb work? Since I have a external e-sata drive I have to plug 2 cables at the moment: USB for power and e-sata.. With this 2-in-1 port do I need only 1 special cable? Or is it meant to be either/or thing??? From the placement of combined e-sata/usb on the opposite side of ntb than other USBs I'd say that 1 cable should be enough,

Dell :: Studio XPS 1645 Vs Studio XPS 1647

I am looking to get a Studio XPS 16 soon, but can't quite decide on which model to get and had a few questions..
1) What is the battery life of the 1647 (i5) compared to the 1645 (i7) assuming they have the same specs. I've read that i5's should last longer, but I really couldn't find anything comparing the two for these systems.
2) When configuring the 1645 and 1647 side-by-side with the same specs. The 1647 is about the same price as the 1645, if not more (depending on which processor selected). I thought the i5's were supposed to be less expensive than the i7's. Since they are about the same price, would it be better to go with the i7? Any reason to choose the i5 over i7?

Acer :: 6920G, Windows 7 Experience

Thought I'd put my experience with the Window 7 Beta on my Acer Aspire 6920G, for those considering it but not sure whether it works etc.
Installation: Installation went smooth, picked up alot of things out of the box, but for the things it doesn't, you can use the backup feature on the vista partition to create a disc with all the drivers etc. on

I can't speak for ExpressCard devices as I don't use them myself.
Sound works out of the box.
Even after installing the drivers for it the webcam refuses to work.
With the drivers from the driver disc created in Vista, bluetooth works......

Acer :: Installing Windows 7 On An 6920G - Drivers, Experience Etc

Well my PC came OEM installed with Vista 32 Bit edition and I would like to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit edition (as i get a student discount).
Looking around the forums and internet in general, I have noticed that on the acer 6920g there seems to always be a problem with drivers such as the CineDash, Realtek, TV tuner, Modem, Card reader, Fingerprint, Webcam, Bluetooth etc. I have also read that you can fix the launchmanager by running in Vista compatiability mode.
If i do an in-place upgrade (going from vista 32-bit to windows 7 ultimate) will it be fine? Also is there anything I should be cautionous of such as the drivers etc.
I would actually really like to do a clean installation but I'm worried that the keyboard 'quick' buttons (such as the internet,bluetooth,mail on the side of keyboard will not work)- can someone please confirm if I did a clean installation, would theese buttons still work?
Also I have two games:GTA IV, Call of Duty 5 , will theese both work on windows 7 (or on compatability).

I have just received my new Studio XPS 1645 yesterday. since then i had been trying to install XP OS. then finally after being touched with dell, they said me that this machin is not compatible with XP Operating system. anyway, after that i tried to install vista ultimate and win7 dual boot. finally today i made it.
but the problem is both in VISTA and WINDOWS 7 the default font and icon is very small. in vista the taskbar icon is so small that they can hardly be seen. my screen is 15.6' widescreen with full hd (1920X1080). I have changed DPI Scalling to 120 DPI from the Default 96 DPI. but still the task bar icon (show desktop, switch between windows,internet explorer, mozilla firefox) is small. i have installed mozilla and it's font size has also become very small but clear(it seems). i m wondering is it they way in high resulation machine should appear. it's annoying. plz help me guys who is having this laptop.

I generally use my computer each day, and if I close the lid at night without shutting the computer off, in the morning the computer will be off.
That wouldn't be a bad thing except many times it'll shut the computer off so I lose everything that was opened up. But the only weird thing is that it won't happen every time.
I was just wondering if any of you have this problem and if there was some setting that I overlooked each time when I looked to change that. It's not a big thing, but I had a Dell computer provided by school and it would still be on in the morning after using it at night..............

I own a studio xps 1645 i720qm 4gb ram with ati 1gb 4670 card. My speakers are pissing me off. I can only hear sound through my head phones. my speakers arent working. Worst case i tired diagnostics tools at the bios startup and during the tests i hear the sounds?!?!??! when I log in my speakers just go dead. I checked IDT panel and it shows that my headphones are plugged in when they really arent. I called Dell rep to help the replaced my speakers and after a week im having the same problem again. I kind of doubt my HDMI port cause the last time this happened was right wafter i watched movies in my TV through my laptop. please guys help me out this is pissing me off soo much.im starting to regret getting this machine. IM experiencing constant freeze-ups too. some times when i go from adapter power to batter power (Power saver mode specially) and some times it randomly freezes (CONSTANTLY). Please help me somehow.
